Central to our work was the story of inequity within the design profession. It was immediately clear that BAIDA is co-creating opportunities for connection: with each other, with the wider design community, and across the African diaspora. The logo we created is all about that connection, bringing shapes together to fill spaces and create intersections for cultivating expertise.

Black women architects represent less than 0/3% of the licensed practitioners in North America." "Based on the Demographics Survey 2021 for Ontario Association of Architects, the majority (64%) identify as White/Caucasian, and (4%) identify as Black." "In North America, about 2% of architects identify as Black or African American."

The BAIDA logo and infographics are both used in a wide range of settings, and the logo’s letterforms are often used as a graphic device to emphasize connection and highlight content. No matter where they appear, they’re meant to inspire conversation.
